  • She was a polyglot, fluent in eight languages (English, French, Modern Greek, Italian, German, Icelandic, Hindi, and Bengali) and having knowledge of some twenty others (Ancient Greek, Urdu, and other Indian languages).
  • She was a highly educated woman, with two master’s degrees (in philosophy and chemistry) and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Lyons.
